                                             Bike Week

Bike Week  is a special week in June when all sorts of bike-related events happen all over the country.   And Enfield is no exception...

Following on from the success of the first Enfield Festival of Cycling, this year the event will be at the end of Bike Week on Sunday 22 June at Picketts Lock Athletics Centre, as part of the

Lea Valley Festival.

As with last year, Edmonton Cycle Club plan to play an active role in the event, so put the date in your diary!

Bike Week events for this year  -

Sunday 15th June:  16-seater bike ride for the Nightingale Community Hospice Trust

A local charity, the Nightingale Community Hospice Trust  (www.nightingalehospice.org.uk) is organising a sponsored 15 mile tour of Enfield on a 16-seater "bike".  If you would relish the opportunity to ride on this amazing machine, while raising money for a good cause, the charity are still looking for riders.  You need to be prepared to commit to raising at least £200 in sponsorship for a seat on the bike.  Alternatively, come along on your bike to Enfield Civic Centre at 10.45am on the day to see the bike off!  Enfield LCC plan to provide a bicycle entourage for this monster machine!

If you are interested in a place on the 16-seater, please call Mary Rose on 020 8366 9674.

Tuesday 17th June:  Easy Evening Ride

A leisurely ride of under 10 miles with a mixture of on and off-road.  Ideal for newcomers and regulars alike.   Meet 7pm outside Enfield Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield.  The ride will end up in the garden of a local pub in Enfield at around 9pm.  Bring lights!

Thursday 19th June:  The Great Ice Cream Ride

An adults-only night-time expedition to visit Marine Ices in Camden, via the hilly bits of North London.  About 25-30 miles in total.  Meet 7pm outside Enfield Civic Centre, or 7.30pm at Palmers Green Triangle.  Bring lights and a healthy appetite!  This ride does not get back to Enfield until well after midnight!

Sunday 22nd June:  Enfield Festival of Cycling!

After last year's successful event, Enfield Council are teaming up with the Lee Valley Festival to make this year's event bigger and better!  The festival takes place from 11am to 5pm at Picketts Lock Athletics Centre, Meridian Way, Picketts Lock, N9 OAS.  Admission FREE!  Visit www.enfield.gov.uk/cycling for more details.  Attractions will include a try-out track where the public will be able to ride an array of weird and wonderful cycles and HPV's.   Enfield LCC will be running a publicity / information stall at the festival - if you are able to help out for an hour or two, please email Richard on r.reeve@blueyonder.co.uk or phone 0870 321 3717.
